The Computar 210mm f6.3 Symmetrigon Lens is a versatile, wide-field lens designed for large-format cameras. Manufactured by Kowa in the late 1970s and early 1980s, this lightweight lens is highly regarded for its superior sharpness and flat field performance.
This lens is outfitted with a 4-element Gauss design, which is air-spaced and uses low-dispersion glass to produce sharp, flat images. Its multi-coating minimizes flare and ghosting to deliver excellent image quality, even in challenging lighting conditions.
With a 72-degree angle of coverage, the Symmetrigon is perfect for 4x5 cameras and provides limited movements on 5x7 cameras. However, it does not cover the 8x10 format at infinity. It is typically mounted in a reliable and durable Copal 1 mechanical shutter.
Despite its robust features, the Computar Symmetrigon maintains a compact and lightweight design, making it an ideal choice for field cameras where weight is a concern.
